Due to climate change, the stress-prone areas of the world, including Bangladesh, are increasing rapidly, which is adversely affecting our agricultural production. Plant Physiology Division is working with other Centers and divisions of BARI to develop stress-tolerant crop varieties to address such challenges. In continuation of this, the Department of Plant Physiology is working on the following research areas.

• Identification of stress-tolerant genotypes of different crops
• Investigation of physiological basis for different stress tolerance
• Identification of different biochemical and enzymatic adaptations in relation to stress tolerance
• Use of plant growth regulators for enhancing the growth and development of crops
