Division’s Mandate

1. To estimate the profitability of BARI mandated crops, competitive crops and cropping systems; 
2. To determine resource use and technical efficiencies in crop production; 
3. To assess the status of adoption and socioeconomic impacts of adopting BARI mandated crops and technologies at farm level; 
4. To conduct detailed research on marketing, value chain development, and post-harvest practices (storage, processing, utilization etc.) of BARI mandated crops; 
5. To identify the researchable problems through farm level investigations for different crops and improved technologies;  
6. Provide farmers with information necessary for carrying out their farming business efficiently and profitably; 
7. Research on current crisis such as reasons of sudden price hike, determination of selling price of agricultural commodities, estimation of demand and supply of  agricultural commodities, etc;  
8. Organize seminar and workshop on selected problems which may afford specialists from different institutes and stations, DAE personnel and farmers opportunity to exchange ideas and be acquainted with the recent advancements in agriculture; and 
9. To identify and suggest policy guidelines for researchers and policymakers.
