Agronomy Division is one of the biggest research division of BARI and contributing significantly to increase crop productivity through development of different agronomic management practices. The division conducts research on Cropping System, Crop and Weed Management, Multiple Cropping, Adaptation to Climate Change and Unfavorable Ecosystems. Selection of suitable crops and variety to improve cropping system is very important for crop intensification and diversification.

• Address the unfavorable ecosystems like coastal, char, haor, hilly, barind, and rainfed and marginal ecosystems; 
• Emphasis on multiple cropping, Strip Cropping;
• Abiotic stress management through agronomic practices;
• Research thrust given on system productivity, nutrient management & nutritional aspects of cropping system studies;
• Efficient use of natural resources (light, water, nutrient);
• Stress management;
